Mumbai: BMC Unveils Special Project to Enhance Devotee Facilities at Shri Siddhivinayak Mandir

Mumbai, 29th January 2024: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to launch a special project aimed at improving facilities for devotees visiting the Shree Siddhivinayak Mandir. Under the guidance of Shri Siddhivinayak Mandir Trust President and Mahim MLA Sada Saravankar and BMC Deputy Commissioner (Zone 2) Ramakant Biradar, the project includes various initiatives to enhance the overall experience for devotees.

Key highlights of the special project include:

1. Road Widening: All roads leading to the temple will be widened to accommodate the increasing number of devotees.

2. Relocation of Puja Material Sellers: Puja material sellers will be shifted to Gadgil Road, alleviating congestion near the temple entrance.

3. Separate Road for Devotees: A dedicated road for devotees coming and going for darshan will be constructed to streamline the movement.

4. Grand Entrances: State-of-the-art entrances on both sides of the temple will be constructed.

5. Modern Toilets: Construction of modern toilets to enhance sanitation facilities for visitors.

6. Provision for Special Needs: Temporary seating in darshan queues for disabled individuals, pregnant women, and senior citizens.

7. Roofs for Protection: Roofs will be provided to protect devotees from sun and rain during the darshan queues.

8. Parking Facility: Adequate parking facilities for devotees.

9. Security Measures: Enhanced security measures around the temple premises.

10. Metro Connectivity: Facilities for devotees coming to the temple from the nearby metro station.

11. Mini Bus Service: Introduction of ‘BEST’ mini buses every 5 minutes between Dadar Railway Station (West) and Shree Siddhivinayak Temple.

A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared to ensure the highest quality of facilities for devotees. The selection of international standard Project Manager Consultants/Architects will be done through the ‘Expression of Interest’ (EOI) process. The project will be executed under the guidance of Shri Sada Saravankar and Deputy Commissioner Ramakant Biradar, with oversight from BMC officials, including the Assistant Commissioner of G North and G South Divisions, Chief Engineer (Development Planning), Chief Engineer (Roads and Traffic), and Municipal Deputy Engineer (Building Construction City). The project aims to enhance the overall experience for the multitude of devotees visiting the renowned Shree Siddhivinayak Mandir.
