Mumbai University Hosts Grand Annual Convocation – UGC Chairman Prof M Jagdesh Kumar as Chief Guest

Mumbai, 29th January 2024: Mumbai University hosted its Annual Convocation on February 7, 2024, at 11 am, at the prestigious Sir Cowasjee Jehangir Convocation Hall. The convocation ceremony was presided over by the Governor of Maharashtra State and Chancellor of the University, Ramesh Bais, with the Minister of Higher and Technical Education of Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, gracing the occasion as the guest of honour.

University Grants Commission Chairman Prof M Jagdesh Kumar was the chief guest for this grand ceremony. The event was attended by Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ravindra Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor Principal Dr. Ajay Bhamre, and Registrar Prof. Baliram Gaikwad. Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board, Dr. Prasad Karande, revealed that the convocation witnessed the presence of the General Assembly, Management Council, Distinguished members of the Faculty Council, Deans of various faculties, Associate Deans, Principals, Heads of Departments, and Professors from various colleges.

The convocation served as a platform to recognize and honour the achievements of over one and a half lakh graduates from various faculties, spanning bachelor’s and master’s degrees. A notable highlight of this year’s ceremony was the conferring of Vidyavachaspati (PhD) degrees upon 425 graduates from different faculties. Additionally, 22 medals were awarded to 19 students who demonstrated exceptional academic excellence in various university examinations.

Governor Ramesh Bais expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the graduates and commended the university for its commitment to academic excellence. UGC Chairman Prof M Jagdesh Kumar shared insights on the importance of higher education and its role in shaping the future of the nation.

The convocation ceremony was broadcast live on Mumbai University’s YouTube channel, allowing a wider audience to witness the auspicious event and celebrate the academic achievements of the graduates. The ceremony concluded with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for the promising futures of the newly graduated students.
