Mumbai: Bread Delivery Worker Killed in Collision with BEST Bus in Aarey Colony

Mumbai, 11th September 2024: A 47-year-old bread delivery worker was killed on Tuesday when his scooter was struck by a BEST bus in Aarey Colony.

According to officers from Aarey Sub police station, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. as Sadiq Khan, en route to deliver bread in Aarey Colony, was hit by the bus.

The bus, operated by Ramesh Londhe, was traveling from Goregaon station to Mayur Nagar at the time of the collision. Khan, a resident of Dindoshi in Malad East, was thrown to the ground and run over by the bus’s rear wheel. Bystanders quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police are currently interviewing witnesses and the bus driver. An FIR is being prepared, and the driver may face charges of negligence and reckless driving.

“We have sent Khan’s body for a postmortem and are in the process of filing an FIR,” an officer from Aarey Sub police station reported.
