Mumbai: Maharashtra in Crisis: Two Dengue Cases Every Hour, Alarming Outbreak Continues

Mumbai, 10th December 2023: In a shocking revelation, Maharashtra is grappling with a severe dengue outbreak, with an average of two people being infected every hour due to mosquito bites. The Maharashtra state ranks third in the country in terms of dengue-infected patients. The data released by the health department shows that from January 1 to November 30, there were a total of 17,531 reported cases of dengue in Maharashtra.

Despite Maharashtra’s substantial population, it ranks below Uttar Pradesh (33,375 cases) and Bihar (19,672 cases) in terms of the number of dengue cases. Mumbai alone reported over 4,300 cases, contributing significantly to the state’s overall count. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Public Health Department sources attribute the high case count to increased reporting units and emphasize the urgency of addressing the mosquito-borne diseases affecting residents’ health.
