Mumbai Police Increase Security at Busy Areas After Alert of Possible Terror Threat from Central Agencies
Mumbai, 30th September 2024: Mumbai police have increased security in busy areas following an alert from central agencies regarding a potential terror threat. According to police sources, security measures have been enhanced at several religious and high-traffic locations in the city.
Police personnel have been instructed to conduct mock drills at these places to ensure preparedness. The Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in Mumbai have also been directed to focus on improving security in their respective zones.
Sources mentioned that temples across the city have been advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity as a precaution. Sada Sarvankar, chairman of the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, confirmed that Mumbai Police has requested heightened security at the temple and urged them to be attentive to security protocols.
On Friday, police conducted a mock drill in the crowded Crawford Market area, which contains two well-known religious sites. Officials clarified that the exercise was part of preparations for the upcoming festive season.
Mumbai recently celebrated the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival and is now gearing up for Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Diwali celebrations. Additionally, elections for the 288-member Maharashtra State Assembly are expected to take place in November.
