Mumbai: School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar Advocates Gender Equality and Holistic Education

Mumbai, 9th February 2024: During the screening of the film ‘I Am Bunny’ at Worli C-Face School, Mumbai, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar highlighted the importance of promoting gender equality through campaigns like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. He emphasized that both boys and girls should have equal opportunities in society, with education being a crucial aspect. Minister Kesarkar also stressed the significance of initiatives like ‘Library in Bag’ and announced the upcoming implementation of the ‘Happy Saturday’ concept in schools across the state to foster the overall development of children.

Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (Education) Chanda Jadhav, Director (Planning) Dr Prachi Jambhekar, and other dignitaries, Minister Kesarkar inaugurated the ‘Library in Bag’ initiative at Worli C-Face School. He distributed ‘Library in Bag’ kits to students and emphasized its potential to enhance vocabulary and eloquence among children. Minister Kesarkar revealed plans to provide these kits to 120 BMC schools initially, to extend the program to all schools. Additionally, he announced the free screening of the film ‘I Am Bunny’ for 60,000 BMC school students in collaboration with Rahul Kanal.

Deputy Commissioner Chanda Jadhav provided insights into the movie ‘I Am Bunny’ and the ‘Library in Bag’ initiative, emphasizing that increased reading would enhance students’ general knowledge. Director Prachi Jambhekar elaborated on the objective of the ‘Library in Bag’ initiative, aimed at ensuring that every child in school can enjoy reading. Implemented through the social responsibility fund of Naira Energy, this initiative will benefit 30,000 children across 120 schools, fostering a love for reading among students.
