Mumbai: Violence Erupts in Antop Hill as Friend Allegedly Shot Over Alcohol Quarrel

Mumbai, 8th April 2024: In an unfortunate incident in Antop Hill, Vivek Shettiyar allegedly shot his friend Akash Kadam during a dispute over alcohol consumption. Kadam was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment at Sion Hospital. Shettiyar, a resident of Wadala, fled the scene after the shooting and is reportedly facing seven criminal cases.

According to police reports, Shettiyar and three others had gathered at Kadam’s rented room on Friday night for drinks, but a dispute arose between Shettiyar and Kadam, leading to Shettiyar’s departure. However, early Saturday morning, Shettiyar returned on his bike, knocked on Kadam’s door, and allegedly fired a shot at him after exchanging heated words. Following the incident, Kadam was rushed to the hospital by locals, and the Antop Hill police registered a case of attempted murder. Additionally, city crime branch teams have initiated a parallel investigation.

Authorities note that Shettiyar and Kadam were friends who had been drinking together the previous night. Police are actively investigating the case and are working to apprehend the accused. Shettiyar has a history of criminal involvement, with seven cases registered against him in various police stations across the city, including charges of attempted murder dating back to 2014. Police efforts to arrest him are ongoing, with multiple teams deployed for the task.
