Navi Mumbai Deploys 600+ Officers for Traffic Management on Mumbai-Goa Highway During Ganesh Festival
Navi Mumbai, 6th September 2024: With many devotees heading to Konkan for the Ganesh festival, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department has deployed over 600 police officers at key points along the Mumbai-Goa highway to manage traffic flow. Starting from September 5, 2024, at 00:01 hours until September 18, 2024, at 20:00 hours, a ban has been enforced on heavy and overloaded vehicles weighing 16 tons or more on Mumbai-Goa National Highway No. 66.
The traffic management team includes 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police, 1 Assistant Commissioner of Police, 15 Police Inspectors, 31 Assistant Police Inspectors/Sub-Inspectors, 610 Police Constables, and 91 Traffic Wardens.
To facilitate smooth traffic flow and minimize congestion for Ganesh devotees travelling to Konkan, a coordination meeting with relevant departments was held.
Additionally, six facility centres have been set up to assist travellers at the following locations: Vashi Toll Plaza, Airoli Toll Plaza, Dhansar Toll Plaza, Kalamboli Circle, Palaspe Circle, and Karnala Khind. These centres will offer medical services, fire brigade support, mechanic assistance for vehicle breakdowns, wireless communication for emergencies, and other essential services.
