Navi Mumbai Faces Temperature Extremes, Raises Concerns Over Viral Diseases

Navi Mumbai, 7th March 2024: Navi Mumbai has been grappling with extreme weather conditions, characterized by scorching daytime heat and chilly nights over the past week. This fluctuation in temperatures has created an environment conducive to the rise of viral diseases such as fever, cold, and cough. The meteorological department forecasts that this unpredictable weather pattern will persist in the coming days. Consequently, the Panvel Municipal Corporation’s health department has issued an appeal to citizens, urging them to exercise caution.

The temperature contrast between day and night has been notably significant in the Panvel and Uran Divisions, causing discomfort for residents. The drastic temperature changes have contributed to the intensification of epidemic diseases in recent days. The heat during the day is followed by a noticeable cold at night, creating adverse effects on human health and posing risks to crops.

In December and January, Mumbai experienced unusually low temperatures for several days, leading to a prolonged period of cold. The temperature variance between daytime and nighttime has been around ten to twelve degrees, contributing to the prevailing health challenges.

The impact on citizens’ health is evident, with an increase in viral infections, fever, cold, cough, and other epidemic diseases. The weather department anticipates that similar conditions will persist in the coming days, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and preventive measures to safeguard public health.
