Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates Pune Metro Expansion, Ruby Hall Clinic To Ramwadi Route Opens; Extension For PCMC To Nigdi

Pune, 6th March 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of the Pune Metro’s Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi route. The ceremony also witnessed the Prime Minister flagging off the metro train on Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi route.

The inauguration and Bhoomi Pujan of various projects were conducted through an online system, marking a noteworthy development in metro infrastructure for Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, participated in the program from Sahyadri Guest House, Mumbai.

The newly inaugurated metro line from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi spans six kilometers, with the trial run successfully completed on February 5, 2024. This extension adds to the previously inaugurated phases, including the seven-kilometer stretch from PCMC to Phugewadi and the five-kilometer stretch from Vanaj to Garware on March 6, 2022. Additionally, phases from Phugewadi to Civil Court (6.91 km) and Garware to Ruby Clinic (4.75 km) were inaugurated on August 1, 2023.

The Prime Minister, during his address, emphasized the ongoing development works in Maharashtra over the past two years, particularly in the realm of railways and metros. The first phase of the metro from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Nigdi, spanning 4.4 km, was inaugurated, enhancing the corridor from Swargate to PCMC to Nigdi.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde acknowledged the rapid pace of development in Maharashtra under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, highlighting the substantial provisions made for railways and metros that are benefiting the citizens.
