Local

Mumbai, 26th October 2026: A signal failure at Kanjurmarg railway station on Monday morning, October 26, affected signalling on all lines at the station and between Vikhroli and Bhandup, prompting Central Railway to regulate train movements under special operating procedures.

The failure was reported at around 9.30 am, according to Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Dr Swapnil Nila. All signals at Kanjurmarg (KJRD) reportedly went blank, affecting train operations on the adjoining section.

Following the failure, trains at Kanjurmarg and between Vikhroli and Bhandup were operated under A-board authority. The fifth and sixth lines between Bhandup and Vikhroli were also being worked under the same arrangement.

Central Railway introduced absolute block working on the Down Local and Down Through lines between Vikhroli and Bhandup, and on the Up Local and Up Through lines between Bhandup and Vikhroli. Trains were also authorised to operate under TD 912 authority.

The first train movements reported after the failure included train No. K39 on the Down Local line from Vikhroli and train No. BL11 on the Down Through line from Vikhroli. Details of the first trains on the Up Local and Up Through lines from Bhandup were awaited.

The cause of the signal failure, restoration of the signalling system and normalisation of train services were not available at the time of the update.
