Ullu App Removes ‘House Arrest’ After Mumbai Police FIR Against Ajaz Khan, Producer Over Obscene Content

Mumbai, 3rd April 2025: Mumbai Police have registered a case against actor Ajaz Khan and producer Rajkumar Pandey following widespread outrage over sexually explicit content in the reality show ‘House Arrest’ streamed on the Ullu app. The FIR, filed at Amboli Police Station after a complaint by Bajrang Dal activist Gautam Ravriya, cites sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
The controversy erupted after video clips went viral on social media showing Khan, the show’s host and former Bigg Boss contestant, pressuring female participants to enact intimate acts and answer vulgar questions on camera. The content sparked sharp criticism from political leaders and the National Commission for Women (NCW), which has summoned both Khan and Ullu CEO Vibhu Agarwal to appear before the commission on May 9.
In response to the backlash and legal action, Ullu has removed ‘House Arrest’ from its platform. As of Friday, the show is no longer available for streaming, though the platform has not issued an official statement. The NCW has condemned the show for promoting vulgarity and violating consent, while calls for stricter regulation of OTT content have intensified.
Neither Ajaz Khan nor the show’s producers have commented publicly on the controversy. The incident has reignited debate over online content moderation and the responsibilities of streaming platforms in India.
