Voter Registration Cards Mandatory For Students Taking Admission In Colleges Of Maharashtra

Mumbai, 25th November 2022: To take admission to colleges and universities of Maharashtra, students above the age of 18 will have to provide voter registration cards along with other essential documents during admission. This initiative, which aims to raise voter knowledge, is anticipated to help the youth who are attending college with their low voter turnout.

 

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chancellor of all state universities, made this announcement in a meeting with the vice chancellors (V-Cs) of all public universities, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis also attended the meeting.

 

Some other decisions were also taken including changing the term of degree programmes from the customary three years to four years, as required by the National Education Policy (NEP), starting with the upcoming academic year.
