24-Year-Old Arrested For Ordering Marijuana From UK

Mumbai, 20th January 2023: A 24-year-old Kolkata-based man was arrested by the Customs Department on charges of ordering marijuana through post from the United Kingdom (UK). Investigation revealed that the accused had ordered ganja from abroad, and about 445 grams of high-quality ganja were seized, the officer said. Its price in the international market is around Rs 20 lakh.

The name of the arrested accused is Uday Kedia. Officials of the Customs Department received information that a parcel from the UK was found to contain ganja at a foreign post office in Mumbai. Accordingly, the customs department traced the suspicious parcel to the office of MIDC, Chakala. The employees there were taken into confidence and told everything. The accused came there to inquire about the concerned parcel. He was arrested in this case after he provided his information and paid postage. While in the UK, he ordered ganja from there. Uday told the inquiry that he was going to sell the ganja to a friend in Mumbai.

At present, the amount of ganja coming from abroad has increased. Ganja is being ordered by courier or post. Money exchange is also being done with the help of technology. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are being used for that. Also, through the darknet, it has become possible to get the desired drug at any place. The official said the international postal service is also being used for this purpose.
