Pune: Arson Attack Unleashes Chaos, Police Attacked as Dispute Takes a Violent Turn in Nigdi

Nigdi, 10th March 2024: Following a minor dispute, six individuals collectively set fire to a man’s garage by dousing it with petrol. In the aftermath, both groups involved in the conflict independently approached the Nigdi Police Station to register complaints. Upon their arrival at the police station, the two factions converged. However, when the police intervened to mediate and resolve the dispute, members from both groups turned hostile, attacking the law enforcement officers. As a result, two distinct criminal cases have been registered in connection with this incident.
A complaint filed by Firoz Ayub Khan (35 years old, resident of Ota Scheme) led to the registration of a case against Chand Ismail Mukertal, Haider Moula Sheikh, Sajid Razzaq Mukertal, Mujahid Razzaq Mukertal, Ibrahim Rajesaheb Mukertal, and Sadil Adil Ansari, all residents of Ota Scheme.
The accused, embroiled in a quarrel with Feroze’s brother Imran Khan and friend Raju Shaikh, visited the complainant’s garage as retaliation. They proceeded to pour petrol on the structure and ignited it, resulting in a loss estimated at Rs 25 thousand. An altercation ensued between Feroze Khan and the accused during this incident.
The ongoing dispute brought both groups to the Nigdi Police Station, where they intended to file complaints against each other. However, tensions escalated, resulting in another argument between the groups. In the process of attempting to resolve the dispute, the situation took a turn for the worse as members of the groups physically obstructed and pushed Police Officer Ajit Gondke. A complaint was filed against those involved for obstructing government work.
The individuals named in the case include Arshad Ayub Khan, Bandeali Akhtar Ali Syed (33 years old), Akram Nafees Sheikh (34 years old), Shahrukh Salahuddin Sheikh (30 years old), Firoz Ayub Khan (35 years old), Ghaus Syed, Niamat Sheikh, Ali Syed, Imtiaz Khan, Hamid Imran, Alam Khan, Rizwan Bagwan, Imran Ayub Khan, Raja Asif Shaikh, and Mohammad Saad Abdullah Shaikh (25 years old), all residents of Ota Scheme Nigdi. Additionally, there are 10 to 12 other individuals against whom a case has been registered.
In response, the police have taken swift action, arresting Bandeali Akhtar Ali Syed, Akram Nafees Sheikh, Shah Rukh Salauddin Sheikh, Firoz Ayub Khan, and Mohammad Saad Abdullah Sheikh. The Nigdi police are currently investigating the matter.
