Another Knife Attack on Mumbai Commuter Outside Mahim Railway Station; Argument Over Accidental Bump Turns Violent
Mumbai, 29th June 2026 : Days after a young commuter was fatally stabbed aboard a Mumbai local train between Andheri and Borivali, another shocking knife attack has been reported outside Mahim railway station. A 35-year-old office worker was allegedly stabbed after an argument erupted over an accidental collision on the street.
The incident occurred around 10.15 pm on Thursday near New India Bar on Senapati Bapat Marg in Mahim (West). Based on the victim’s complaint, Mahim Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and launched a search for the accused.
According to police, the victim, Naveen Prasanna (35), has been residing in Mahim West with his family for the past 25 years. He works as an office boy at a commercial building in Lower Parel and commutes daily by Mumbai local train.
After returning from work on Thursday night, Prasanna got off at Mahim railway station and was walking home when he accidentally bumped into a man standing outside a shop. The impact caused the man’s mobile phone to fall to the ground.
Prasanna immediately apologised, stating that the collision was unintentional. However, the man claimed he had recently repaired the phone and demanded compensation. Although Prasanna pointed out that the phone had not suffered any visible damage, the argument escalated.
Prasanna then left the spot, but the accused allegedly followed him. Outside the nearby bar, the man reportedly threatened to kill him if he refused to pay. When Prasanna attempted to calm the situation, the accused allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him on the left side of his abdomen.
Despite sustaining serious injuries, Prasanna managed to reach his residence in a blood-soaked condition. His brother Sachin and a cousin immediately rushed him to Sion Hospital, where he received medical treatment.
In the early hours of Friday, Prasanna lodged a complaint at Mahim Police Station. Police have registered an offence of attempt to murder against the unidentified accused and are working to trace and arrest him.
