Palghar: 19-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped in Talasari; Three Suspects Detained
Palghar, 11th August 2026: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted by a group of men at an isolated location in Talasari taluka of Palghar district. Following a complaint, police detained three suspects and launched a search for the others allegedly involved in the incident.
According to preliminary information, the woman was staying at her friend’s house. On August 9, she was travelling with her friend and the friend’s boyfriend towards Gujarat. While returning, their motorcycle reportedly fell on the road in the Talasari area.
The woman told police that six men travelling on two motorcycles were present at the spot. She alleged that some of them forcibly took her on a motorcycle, while the others followed them.
Woman allegedly taken to isolated location
The woman was allegedly taken to an isolated area near the Dak Bungalow in Talasari, where the alleged sexual assault took place. She later approached the police and reported the incident.
After receiving the complaint, police registered a case and began tracing the suspects. One suspect was detained on Monday, while two others were detained on Tuesday.
Police said the woman has provided the names of six individuals. Preliminary investigation suggests that five of them may have been involved in the alleged offence. Their individual roles are being investigated, and the remaining suspects are being traced by police teams.
Boyfriend later approaches police
The woman’s boyfriend, who was reportedly with her at the time of the incident, allegedly fled the spot out of fear. He later appeared at the police station and provided information about what had happened. Police are also recording his statement as part of the investigation.
Police teams searching for remaining suspects
Palghar Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh visited Talasari and reviewed the investigation. Special teams have been deployed to locate the remaining suspects.
Police said further legal action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the investigation. The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the suspects will be established through due legal process.
