Navi Mumbai RTO Strikes On Illegal Vehicles: Collected Fine Rs. 4 Lakh, 49 Thousand In Two Months

Navi Mumbai, 4th July 2023: In an effort to curb the rising incidents of traffic violations by private buses in the city, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Navi Mumbai has intensified its enforcement activities. Over the past two months, the RTO has cracked down on 74 illegal transport buses, collecting fines totaling Rs. 4 lakh, 49 thousand.

The city’s highways have witnessed a surge in unauthorised vehicles operating without valid licences, insurance, and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. Furthermore, the RTO has uncovered instances of freight transportation being carried out by private buses, a practise that is strictly prohibited.

One of the key issues identified by the RTO is the transportation of excess passengers, which poses significant risks to road safety. In a bid to address this concern, the RTO has taken decisive action against 74 buses in the months of May and June alone. Hemangini Patil, Deputy Regional Officer of the RTO, informed that a total fine of Rs. 4 lakh, 49 thousand, has been collected from the actions of the RTO in the last two months.
