Massive Fire Engulfs Warehouse At Tarapur Industrial Estate; Three Persons Injured

Tarapur, 4th July 2023: A heavy fire broke out at a warehouse called G. J. Petrochemicals and Lubricants in the Sattar Bungalow area of Tarapur Industrial Estate. A flammable chemical tanker and a transformer were gutted in a fire. Three workers sustained injuries in the accident, of which two are at a very critical stage.

The warehouse is situated in Plot No. W-87. On Monday night, around 9.30 p.m., when workers were extracting furnace oil from the tanker, a devastating fire was caused by a short circuit. Immediately, nine fire tankers of Tarapur Fire Brigade, Adani Power, and Palghar Municipal Council reached the spot and brought the fire under control after four hours of hard work.

Three workers identified as Ashfaq Ali Mansuri (age 35), Furqan Khan (27) and Talukdar Avdharam Verma (54) were injured in this accident. They were immediately admitted to the nearby Thunga Hospital. According to the doctors, Ashfaq and Furkan’s bodies have burned almost 60 to 65 percent, which necessitates their shifting to the National Burn Centre at Airoli, Navi Mumbai, for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendent of Police Pankaj Shirsath, Sub Divisional Officer Sunil Mali, Police Inspector Umesh Patil, and a sub-divisional magistrate visited the spot and reviewed the incident.
