Mumbai: Urgent Safety Concerns Raised As Barricade Washes Away From The Outside Of St. Lawrence School In Kandivali East

Kandivali, 27th July 2023: The barricade in front of St. Lawrence School on the 90-foot road in Kandivali East has been washed away by rainwater. Due to this, concerned parents and local residents are now demanding immediate action from the municipal authorities to either repair the barricade or construct a new one to ensure the safety of pedestrians and students going down this road.
There is a constant influx of traffic on the 90-foot road in this area. This road connecting the Gawdevi Marg in the Poisar slum section leads further to the Western Expressway. Similarly, this route further connects to the St. Lawrence English Medium School, leading to an increased footfall of students and parents in the vicinity.
With the barricade now washed away amidst the heavy rainfall, commuters are now driving vehicles at alarming speeds on this road, posing a serious threat to the safety of students and other pedestrians. Concerned with this trend, the parents of the children are now expressing a fear of an accident. Therefore, the parents and the residents are now demanding that the municipality should immediately build a new roadblock here.
“Our primary concern is the safety of our children. With the barricade gone, vehicles are driving recklessly, and the risk of an accident is alarmingly high. We urge the authorities to take immediate action and either repair the barricade or erect a new one to safeguard the lives of students and pedestrians,” said one of the parents.
