Palghar: Horrible Bus-Truck Collision In Malwada Phata Leaves 47 Students And 8 Passengers Critically Injured
Palghar, 9th September 2023: A devastating accident unfolded on Friday morning on the Wada-Malwada road, involving a bus and a truck, resulting in 47 students and 8 passengers sustaining severe injuries. The injured individuals are receiving medical care at various private and government hospitals. A total of 63 passengers were on board at the time of the accident.
The ill-fated bus was en route from Chinchpada to Wada, travelling around 6:30 in the morning, with a total of 56 students among its passengers. The accident occurred when a truck collided with the bus while taking a turn at Desai Naka, approximately one kilometre away from the scene. The impact of the collision inflicted severe injuries on the victims, particularly affecting their mouths, teeth, and heads. Many passengers sustained multiple injuries.
Upon receiving news of the accident, a large crowd quickly gathered at Wada Rural Hospital. Among the injured is 17-year-old Teju Ghatal, a student who suffered severe head and mouth injuries. She was subsequently transferred to Thane for specialised treatment. The bus driver, Shankar Sonkamble, was admitted to the Wada hospital for medical attention.
Palghar Collector Govind Bodke and S.T. Traffic Controller of the Corporation, Vilas Rathoya, personally visited the scene to inquire about the injured individuals and assess the situation.
