Mumbai: Fire Breaks Out At Foo Restaurant In Bandra Mall, Doused After Three Hours
Bandra West, 30th October 2026: A fire broke out at Foo restaurant inside VN Sphere Mall on Linking Road in Bandra West early Friday morning. The blaze was extinguished after nearly three hours, with no injuries reported, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The fire was reported at around 6:02 am on October 30 on the third floor of the five-storey commercial building. The Mumbai Fire Brigade declared a Level II fire call at 6:28 am, following which multiple fire engines and water tankers were deployed to the location. The blaze was brought under control by 8:55 am.
Deputy Fire Officer H V Girkar said the fire originated in the restaurant’s kitchen and dining area. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames, with visibility inside the affected area reduced to almost zero, making it difficult to access the fire. Personnel entered the premises using breathing apparatus to carry out firefighting operations.
Along with the Mumbai Fire Brigade, teams from the Mumbai Police, the concerned electricity distribution company and BMC ward staff were mobilised. A 108 ambulance was also stationed at the site as a precautionary measure.
Visuals from the scene showed fire engines outside the mall and broken glass panes at the restaurant. The extent of the damage inside the premises was not immediately clear.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Officials said cooling operations were underway after the fire was extinguished, while an investigation was initiated to establish the cause of the blaze. The exact cause had not been confirmed in the initial reports.
The incident occurred at a commercial property on Linking Road, a busy stretch in Bandra West known for its retail outlets, restaurants and other businesses. The fire prompted a response from multiple emergency agencies, although officials did not immediately announce whether other parts of the mall had been affected or when the restaurant would resume operations.
Authorities are expected to assess the affected premises as part of the investigation into the incident.
