Actor Vikrant Massey Announces Retirement from Film Industry, Sparks Speculation About Political Aspirations

Mumbai, 3rd December 2024: Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey has stunned fans and the entertainment industry with a surprising announcement that he will be retiring from the film industry in 2025. The actor, renowned for his roles in critically acclaimed films like Lootera, Chhapaak, 12th Fail, and his recent success The Sabarmati Report, shared his emotional farewell on social media on Monday morning.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Vikrant expressed gratitude for the unwavering support he has received from his fans over the years. However, he revealed that he felt it was time to recalibrate his life and step back from the limelight. “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor,” he wrote.
Vikrant also mentioned that he would bid farewell to the film industry with two upcoming projects: Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. He added, “So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted.”
The actor’s decision comes after his recent success in The Sabarmati Report, a political drama based on the 2002 Godhra train burning tragedy, which led to the deaths of 59 people, mostly Hindu pilgrims and karsevaks returning from a ceremony in Ayodhya. The film has been well-received, with several states declaring it tax-free. On the same day as his retirement announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi watched The Sabarmati Report at a special screening and praised the film’s efforts. Sharing his thoughts on X, PM Modi wrote, “Joined fellow NDA MPs at a screening of ‘The Sabarmati Report.’ I commend the makers of the film for their effort.”
