Bhiwandi Road – dispatches 2,408 tonnes of parcel in the year 2021
Mumbai, 07 Feb 2021: Bhiwandi Road, Central Railway, Mumbai Division’s most thriving Business Development Unit (BDU) has begun the year 2021 on a very positive note. It is instrumental in dispatching 2,408 tonnes of parcels in about 1.74 lakh packages from the start of the year till date.
A total of 1,343 tonnes of parcel in about 1.10 lakh packages have been dispatched to Shalimar (West Bengal) followed by 975 tonnes of parcel in about 56 thousand packages to Azra (Guwahati) from 1st January 2021 to till date.
The items sent include furniture, refrigerators, electronic items, food items, food products, medicines, plastic items, bags, stationery, lubricant oil and cosmetics of popular brands like Godrej, Onida, LG, Bajaj, Parle-G, Hindustan Lever, Del-Monte, Milton etc. The Bhiwandi BDU had earlier dispatched a total of 7,246 tonnes of parcel in 4.73 lakh packages in the year 2020.
As a part of the Business Development Unit (BDU) set up by Railways at Zonal and Divisional level, Central Railway has taken many initiatives to boost the freight and parcel loading by providing seamless and affordable connectivity to industry and developing Bhiwandi station has been one of the most successful ventures. This move will not only boost railway revenue but also help generate job opportunities for local people.
