Customs Department Seizes 2.45 KG Of Gold Worth Rs 1.29 Crore, Arrests Passenger At Mumbai Airport
Mumbai, 7th May 2023: The Air Intelligence Unit of the Mumbai Customs Department arrested Sanjay Jain, a passenger who arrived from Bangkok on Friday night, after finding 2.45 kg of gold in his socks and jeans pocket.
The accused admitted to deliberately smuggling the gold and has been arrested under relevant sections of the Customs Act. Officials are investigating if the accused had smuggled gold in a similar manner earlier and are scanning his phone for more information. The seized gold is worth around Rs 1.29 crore.
