Fire Breaks Out in Thane Building, 350 Residents Evacuated Safely

Thane, 22nd March 2024: In Thane, a fire incident in the early hours of Friday prompted the evacuation of 350 residents from a five-storey building, Aman Heights, situated in the Shivaji Nagar area of Mumbra. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as the fire was contained within the electric meter room.

According to Yasin Tadvi, the head of the Disaster Management Cell at the Thane Municipal Corporation, the fire broke out around 1:30 am and affected 109 electric meters. Quick action by firefighting teams led to the fire being brought under control by 2:30 am.

The fire, originating in the electrical components, resulted in thick black smoke spreading throughout the building, causing residents to evacuate in panic. All 350 residents were safely evacuated from the premises, returning to their flats approximately two hours later.

As a precautionary measure, the power supply to the building has been disconnected, with plans to restore it during the day. Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are ongoing.
