Four Undertrials Assault Police Officer Outside Kalyan Sessions Court

Kalyan, 27th September 2025: Four undertrial prisoners allegedly assaulted a police officer inside a police van on the premises of the Kalyan Sessions Court earlier this week. The officer sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Police identified the accused as Akash Valmiki, Ganesh Moretiya, Yoginder Moretiya, and Vivek Yadav, all residents of Ulhasnagar facing multiple criminal cases. According to officials, the four had boarded a police van after their court hearings to be taken back to Aadharwadi Jail in Kalyan.

Police naik Kishor Petre, who was escorting the undertrials, said the trouble began when he asked them to move to the back of the van to make space for other prisoners.

“They began hurling abuses at me and then grabbed me by the collar. One threw a water bottle and a food packet at my face, while another struck me near the ear,” Petre said. Despite repeated attempts by other police personnel to calm the situation, the undertrials refused to cooperate.

Kalyan ACP Kalyanji Ghete confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the four accused for assaulting a police officer.
