French Navy Visits Mumbai

Mumbai, 3rd November 2022: Defense-related cooperation between India and France has grown exponentially in the last few decades. To strengthen the relations between the two countries, France and India, the Aconite ship of the French Navy paid a five-day goodwill visit to the Naval Department in Mumbai. The French Navy, under the command of Jean-Bertrand Guyon, Commander of the Aconite ship, visited the Naval Base in Mumbai from 28th October to 2nd November.

 

Naval officers and staff of France interacted with officers and staff of the Indian Navy on various professional and social issues. The visit concluded with a sea exercise with warships of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet.

 

On this occasion, Commanding Officer Commander Gayon met Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief of Staff of Western Naval Command. Aconite’s visit to Mumbai is indicative of the growing cooperation between the two navies and enhanced interoperability between them.

 

 As peace and stability are of common interest, the navies of both countries are committed to working together, the Indian Naval Department stated.
