Uran Railway Station Work Speed Up; Roofing Work Continues

Mumbai, 3rd November 2022: CIDCO and Railways have decided to start Kharkopar to Uran service on Nerul to Uran railway line in 2023. For this, the work of Gavan, Ranjanpada, Nhava Sheva (Navghar), Dronagiri (Bokdavira), and Uran railway stations on the Kharkopar to Uran route has been speed up. These works have been started on the protection wall of Uran railway station as well as other facilities in the station.

The platform has been prepared and the roof work of the station is going on. The work of laying iron beams for the roof is being carried out. For this, these beams are installed with the help of big cranes. These labourers are working day and night on the roof work of the station. These stations are near the developing Dronagiri node of CIDCO in Uran and the residents of this urban area are waiting for this railway line connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. This railway line was approved in 1997.

However, the Nerul to Uran railway line has been stalled for the past 26 years due to land acquisition, lack of funds, etc. Due to this, the development of Uran was also hampered. But CIDCO and the government want to start the development of Uran’s Dronagiri node after the Ulve node. That is why the work of this railway line has been speeded up. Direct attention is being paid to this from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The station at Navghar on this route is named Nhava Sheva. This name is opposed by the villagers here. On November 15, social workers from Navghar L.B. protested in front of the CIDCO office to demand that the name be changed to Navghar instead of Nhava Sheva.

Similarly, since Dronagiri station is near Bokadvira village, the villagers of Bokadvira have demanded the railway, and CIDCO named Bokadvira station instead of Dronagiri.
