Girl Not Raped In Mumbai Local Train – BJP Leader Chitra Wagh

Mumbai, 15th June 2023: Following the recent incident of alleged sexual assault on a 20-year-old girl in a local train in Mumbai, BJP leader Chitra Wagh has expressed her perspective, stating that the girl was not raped. She also criticized NCP MP Supriya Sule for her earlier tweet, referring to a statement from the Mumbai Railway Police Commissionerate. According to Wagh, the accused attempted to get close to the girl.

Wagh expressed, “It is regrettable to witness baseless allegations and hasty judgments being made. Before making such significant statements, it is important to conduct proper research. The woman was not subjected to rape in the local train, as claimed.”

Chitra Wagh clarified, “The incident involved an attempted molestation, for which the accused was promptly arrested following a complaint. It is crucial to refrain from spreading false information. Defaming an innocent individual is unjust and can fuel the circulation of rumours.”

Highlighting the need for reliable information, Wagh emphasized, “Instead of resorting to Twitter, we should have sought accurate details from the Mumbai Railway Police Commissioner. Spreading unverified claims contributes to the proliferation of fake news and rumours. I urge everyone, including the public, to refrain from believing and sharing such unverified information.”

Acknowledging the seriousness of both attempted and actual atrocities against women, Wagh stressed, “Ensuring women’s safety is of paramount importance. The Railway Police holds the responsibility of providing a secure environment for women in local areas. It is imperative to conduct an audit of the railway helpline and address local crimes against women, which will be undertaken in the near future.”
