Global Commitments Unveiled at the 15th Sankalp Global Summit 2023 In Mumbai

Mumbai, 25th October 2023: Aavishkaar Group and Intellecap successfully hosted the 15th Sankalp Global Summit 2023, one of the Global South’s premier gatherings on impact entrepreneurship. Held at Westin Powai in Mumbai, the summit brought together over 600 diverse stakeholders within the impact ecosystem.

Across 24 sessions, participants engaged in discussions focused on driving climate finance toward resilience, adaptation, and mitigation. Marking 15 years of impactful initiatives, the summit, themed “The Great Transition: Financing Climate Action for the Global South,” emphasized collaboration among global leaders, industry practitioners, and climate visionaries to intentionally build climate solutions.

Distinguished leaders, including Wendy Werner of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Pradeep Tharakan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Liz Lloyd of British International Investments (BII), Ajay Rao from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), and others, graced the summit. Government representatives, innovators, investors, and capacity builders also played a crucial role in the event.

One noteworthy highlight was the climate-focused Sankalp Global Awards hosted by Aavishkaar. Four startups—Revy Environmental Solutions, Hasiru Dala Innovations, Angaza Foods, and Strawcture Eco—were each awarded $20,000 in partnership with Artha Impact. The Global Impact Hackathon, focusing on innovations in housing, health, and energy consumption, saw Niramai emerging as the winner. The climate deal room facilitated connections between 10 entrepreneurs and 15 investors. A gathering of climate financiers provided a platform for leaders from DFIs, banks, and private equity investors to share insights and explore collaborative opportunities.

Vikas Bali, CEO of Intellecap, expressed, “The 15th Sankalp Global Summit is a testament to our shared commitment in building an enabling ecosystem, placing entrepreneurship and capital at the heart of solutions for people and the planet.”

Pramit Banerjee, Manager of Sankalp Forum, added, “Our hope is that this summit doesn’t just serve as an annual gathering but a continuous beacon of inspiration, driving sustainable and scalable innovations for a brighter, greener future.”

Supported by global partners like Artha Impact, Energy Catalyst, British International Investment, World Bank Group, Korean Green Growth Trust Fund, Greening of Finance by Women Network, and International Development Research Centre (Canada), the forum catalyzed collaborative capital, facilitated discussions on people-centric approaches, and incentivized the private sector to adopt climate-smart solutions.
