Heavy Rains Trigger Severe Flooding in Chirner Village Of Navi Mumbai, Causing Extensive Damage

Navi Mumbai, 19th July 2023: The historic Chirner village has been affected by heavy rains on Tuesday, and more than 350 houses in the village have been flooded.

The calamity unfolded as the powerful deluge gushed down from the nearby hills and valleys, leading to a state of chaos and distress among the villagers. With water levels reaching three to four feet inside homes, crucial belongings and electrical equipment suffered irreparable damage, rendering them inoperable. The situation has been further exacerbated due to the obstruction of natural drains and streams in the area, causing Chirner to face a recurrent flood threat year after year.

In the aftermath of the disaster, Dr. Uddhav Kadam, the Tehsildar of the region, provided crucial information, revealing that over 150 houses had been directly impacted by the floodwaters. The local authorities are coordinating relief efforts to assist those affected and mitigate the damage caused by the deluge.
