Illegal Construction In Thane Not Removed Due To Political Pressure

Thane, 22nd December 2022: In Pimpalgaon near Bhiwandi, a resident has started construction on a road without obtaining building permits from Gram Panchayat, District Administration and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

Because of this, the village road has been closed for many years, and the villagers are displeased. A Pimpalgaon resident and land owner Sudeep Bhoir has filed a complaint with the Collector, Tehsildar, Kongaon Police Station and MMRDA. The Thane District Collector has ordered the local revenue administration to immediately raze this construction which obstructs the public road.

In this case, the construction owner Praveen Bhoir is said to be an activist of Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena party. Residents of Pimpalgaon believe due to political pressure, despite the orders of the District Collector, the local administration system is not taking action to demolish or stop the construction. This illegal construction has created great controversy in Pimpalgaon and is said to be accentuated by the increasing interference of a politician’s personal assistant.

Pimpalgaon Gram Panchayat, Planning Authority MMRDA has ordered the construction owner Praveen Bhoir to stop the construction immediately, however that does not seem to have made any difference. A senior official said, “There has been increasing political interference in the matter. We cannot think of what the punishment will be if we take action. If we do not take action on the construction, we will suffer. We are stuck in this double dilemma.”
