Landslide On Pune-Mumbai Expressway Causes Traffic Diversion, Expressway Closed For Two Hours
Mumbai, 24th July 2023: A major landslide struck the Pune-Mumbai Expressway around 10:30 PM yesterday, disrupting traffic flow on the busy route. Tireless efforts spanning four and a half hours resulted in the successful removal of the debris, allowing two lanes towards Mumbai to reopen for traffic. However, the third lane remained blocked due to a hazardous crack.
Authorities are vigilant about the mountain’s unstable condition, which could lead to another collapse. As a precautionary measure, a traffic block is scheduled between twelve and two in the afternoon today to address the dangerous fissure.
During this period, all traffic heading towards Mumbai will be diverted onto the old highway, ensuring the safety of commuters and facilitating the crack removal operation.
