Mumbai: Traffic Branch Implements Measures To Alleviate Traffic Congestion At Dombivli West Railway Station

Dombivli, 4th July 2023: In response to the persisting issue of heavy traffic congestion surrounding Dombivli West Railway Station, the traffic police has taken the decision to address the problem. Commuters have been facing significant difficulties reaching the station on time, often missing their scheduled trains. To address these challenges, the traffic branch has implemented new regulations prohibiting rickshaw drivers from stopping their vehicles within 50 metres of the station’s entrance.

The vicinity of the old police station in Dombivli West, specifically Pandit Dindayal Chowk and Vishnu Nagar, always faced traffic jams. Due to the latest decision, passengers from this area will get a big relief. Last week, Police Inspector Umesh Gite of the Traffic Branch decided to employ CCTV cameras to monitor rickshaw drivers who stop their vehicles in front of the railway station to pick up passengers. The traffic department has warned that violators of the newly enforced regulations will face the appropriate action.

The enforcement of this rule aims to put an end to the influx of rickshaw drivers in the area of the railway station, consequently alleviating the problem of traffic congestion. Additionally, the practice of illegally transporting passengers from this area, circumventing traffic police, has been a significant cause of concern. As rickshaws occupy the roads, they hinder the flow of passing vehicles, leading to frequent traffic jams in the station area. With the objective of permanently resolving this issue, the Traffic Department has now strictly prohibited rickshaw drivers from entering the entrance of the railway station.

While several rickshaw stands in Dombivli East are already situated at a distance ranging from 25 feet to 60 metres from the railway entrance, passengers have long been advocating for similar arrangements in the western part of the city. Consequently, the recent actions taken by the traffic department have garnered positive responses from commuters.
