“Mercedes Baby Did Not Have Struggles,” says Devendra Fadnavis While Taking A Jibe At Aditya Thackeray

Mumbai, 5th May 2022: The rhetoric between the opposition and the government continues in Maharashtra. Now former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has called Aaditya Thackeray, a minister in the state government, a ‘Mercedes baby’. He said that Thackeray never struggled. The Shiv Sena leader had ridiculed Fadnavis’s statement, in which he had said that he was present there at the time of the Babri demolition in 1992. Thackeray had reportedly said, then Fadnavis would have participated in the revolt of 1857 as well.

Fadanvis told the reporters, “These Mercedes babies who were born with a golden spoon in their mouth never faced any struggle nor did they see any struggle. So they can certainly make fun of the struggle of kar sevaks. Lakhs of Kar sevaks like us are proud that we were there when the Babri structure was demolished. I was there personally and there was a corporator (councillor) present at that time.”

Fadnavis said, ‘I am a Hindu, and therefore I believe in past birth and reincarnation. If I had a previous birth, I would have participated in the revolt of 1857 along with Tatya Tope and Rani of Jhansi.”

Without naming Aaditya Thackeray, he said, “You must have allied with the British (in your previous life) because now you have allied with those who do not consider the war of 1857 as a freedom struggle.”

Later, speaking at the ‘Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards’ event, Fadnavis said that when he went to Ayodhya during the Ram temple movement, he was 22 years old and not 13 as some people said about him.
