Mumbai: 107 Govindas Injured In High-Flying Dahi Handi Celebrations Yesterday

Mumbai, 8th September 2023: Yesterday, on September 7, the Dahi Handi festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm and whoopy across the state. At many places across the state, Govinda squads layered as much as up to nine layers and broke the handi.

However, in the midst of this enjoyment, there is a sour note in the celebration, as the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has informed that as many as 107 Govindas were injured in the Dahi Handi festival in Mumbai city till 9 p.m. yesterday. The injured Govindas are undergoing treatment at the various hospitals in the city.

The corporation, through its circulars, informed that out of the total number of injured Govindas, 14 are reported to be in critical condition. While 62 Govindas have been discharged after primary treatment. However, it is reported that 31 people are still undergoing treatment.

Similarly, the Thane Municipal Corporation has informed that 17 Govindas were injured in the Dahi Handi festival in the Thane Corporation’s area. It is reported that many of Govinda’s hands and legs were fractured after falling from the top. These injured Govids were treated at Kalwa Civil Hospital. However, in the Thane Municipal Corporation area, none of the Govindas were seriously injured.

This data was given by Mumbai and Thane Municipal Corporation, respectively, and is up to 9 p.m. on Thursday. It is said that this number is likely to increase further.
