Mumbai: Joint Operation By Mumbai Police And Railway Police Leads To Arrest Of Abductor And Safe Return Of Abducted Child

Mumbai, 8th September 2023: In a swift and well-coordinated operation, the Mumbai Police and Railway Police successfully apprehended the abductors of a five-and-a-half-year-old girl on Thursday.

The 35-year-old accused, identified as Rotin Ghosh, is a resident of Kamathipura in central Mumbai. She was arrested in connection with the abduction of a five-and-a-half-year-old girl. According to the police, the accused and the child’s mother also reside in the same neighborhood. Sources reveal that Ghosh and the girl’s mother had a good relationship earlier but had later parted due to some differences between them.

The troubling saga unfolded on Tuesday, September 5, when an argument between Ghosh and the child’s mother took an alarming turn. In the heat of the altercation, Ghosh forcibly took the woman’s daughter with him, leaving her distraught and helpless. Recognising the gravity of the situation, the mother promptly filed a kidnapping case at the Nagpada police station on the same day.

Responding to the urgent call for action, the Nagpada police immediately formed six specialised teams to track down the accused. Their efforts were bolstered by technical analysis, which pinpointed Ghosh’s location near Igatpuri in Nashik.

Further investigations revealed that the accused was attempting to escape the city by boarding the Shalimar Express. With this information, a dedicated team from the Government Railway Police (GRP) swiftly boarded the train. Ghosh’s capture occurred when the Shalimar Express was nearing Shegaon in Buldhana.

The apprehended abductor was promptly brought back to Mumbai and placed under arrest by the Nagpada police, facing charges related to the abduction. Meanwhile, the child was safely reunited with her relieved mother upon their return to Mumbai.
