Mumbai: 16-Year-Old Student Found Dead In Goregaon East School Toilet, Investigation Underway
Mumbai, 10th January 2025: A 16-year-old student reportedly took her own life in the toilet of an international school in Goregaon East on Thursday, according to the police.
The student, who was in Class 11, was found hanging in the bathroom by a shoelace, said Ravindra Patil, senior inspector at Arey police station.
The girl had been struggling with depression and was undergoing treatment for the past few months, an official shared.
She attended school as usual in the morning but went to the washroom during her karate class and did not return for a while. An attendant went to check on her, and after the staff realized something was wrong, they broke open the washroom door to discover her hanging from a hook.
She was immediately taken to a hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. The parents have not expressed any suspicion about the incident. A case of accidental death has been filed, and an investigation is ongoing, Patil confirmed.
