Mumbai: 74-Year-Old Woman Killed By Son Over Property Dispute

Mumbai, 8th December 2022: A shocking case has come to light where a 74-year-old woman, Vina Govardhandas Kapoor, living in Vile Parle, was killed by her son. Her body was dumped in a valley in Matheran. In this case, the Juhu Police arrested the accused boy along with the servant who helped him in connection with the murder and destruction of evidence.

 

The accused have been identified as Sachin Govardhandas Kapoor (43) and Chhotu alias Lalukumar Mandal (25). Investigation reveals that Sachin killed his mother over a property dispute. Vina Kapoor lived in Garibdas (Kalpataru) Society, Gulmohar Road No. 5, near Kishorekumar Garden, Juhu, Vile Parle. Her elder son lives in America, while her younger son Sachin lives with her.

 

For the past few days, there was a huge dispute between Vina and Sachin over the property. This dispute is currently going on in the court and a copy of the case was given to the society by Vina Kapoor. Javed Abdullah Mapari, the security supervisor of the society, had lodged a complaint about Vina Kapoor’s disappearance with the Juhu police on Tuesday. The police started an investigation into his complaint.

 

Taking serious note of this incident, the police investigated the location of Sachin along with Vina, and it was found that Vina’s location was at her residence, and Sachin’s location was at Panvel. Therefore, the police seized the CCTV footage of the society. At that time, the police got information that Sachin and his servant Chhotu were hiding in flat number 203 of the Mauli building in Vile Parle. After that, the police raided the flat and detained both of them for questioning. During the interrogation, Sachin confessed to beating his mother with his hands and killing her with a baseball bat in a fit of anger, saying that he had a property dispute with his mother.

 

He had enlisted the help of Chotu to destroy the evidence of the murder. They tried to destroy the evidence by stuffing Vina’s body in a box and throwing it in the valley of Matheran. After the information was revealed, the police registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence of murder. Police arrested both the accused in the same crime on Wednesday. A special team of Juhu Police had left for Matheran to search for Vina’s body. The police said that the body has been taken into custody and will be sent for post-mortem.
