Mumbai: Accused Of Santacruz Killing Apprehended By Crime Branch Officer

Santacruz, 3rd October 2023: The accused in the killing of a 35-year-old man who was beaten to death with a stick and paver block in Santacruz on Thursday following an animosity dispute was apprehended by the Santacruz Police. The crime branch officer handcuffed the accused, identified as Jaishankar Mishra (48), from near King’s Circle railway station.

On Thursday, a 35-year-old youth named Rajesh Kumar Shukla (35) was killed by Mishra following an altercation between them. In a fit of rage, Mishra unleashed a brutal assault on Shukla, beating him with a stick, paver block, and umbrella.

In this horrifying attack, Shukla sustained severe injuries, which ultimately led to his demise during the medical treatment at Copper Hospital. This entire harrowing incident was captured by surveillance cameras in the vicinity, which provides crucial evidence to the police for the ongoing investigation.

At the time of the attack, Shukla was sleeping in front of a diagnostic centre located on S. V. Road in the Santa Cruz West area. Capitalising on the opportunity, Mishra attacked Shukla. After this, the Crime Branch’s Room 9 unit launched a parallel investigation in this case. Led by In-Charge Police Inspector Daya Nayak, the dedicated team of officers and enforcers meticulously pursued the case through technical means.

During the course of their investigation, intelligence suggested that the primary suspect was going to King’s Circle via train. Acting swiftly on this information, the Room 9 team apprehended Mishra in the neighbourhood of King’s Circle railway station. Subsequently, the accused admitted his involvement in the shocking crime.

Police told that Mishra is a resident of the Antophill area.
