Mumbai Airport Runways Closed For Six Hours Tomorrow For Runway Repair Work

Mumbai, 17th October 2022: Both runways at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai Airport) will be closed for six hours on Tuesday, 18th October, due to post-monsoon works. Due to this, some companies have cancelled the flights, while some flight timings have been changed.

 

 

 

Mumbai Airport has main and alternate runways on 14/32 and 09/27. This runway will be closed from 11 am to 5 pm for maintenance work on Tuesday, the Mumbai airport administration has informed. The runway will be reopened for flights after 5 pm. Major works like the repair of runway side lights and the change of aeronautical ground lights will be done during this period. Due to these works, the Mumbai airport administration has appealed to the passengers to inquire about the reserved flight services from the respective airlines.

 

 

 

Earlier, both the runways were closed for six hours on 10th May for pre-monsoon works. Currently, more than 800 flights land and take off at Mumbai airport every day. The traffic of domestic as well as international flights has increased at Mumbai airport, and the number of passengers has also increased. The highest number of 1,30,374 passengers was recorded at this airport on 17th September.
