Mumbai, 31st October 2022: The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has recently announced an order not to give food to stray dogs due to the increase in stray dog attacks and filthiness caused by stray dogs in the area. Against this order, animal lovers organized a protest and signature campaign at Shivaji Park on Sunday.

As the nuisance of stray dogs is increasing in all the cities of the country, the locals have started suffering from it. There have also been cases of dogs running behind pedestrians or moving vehicles, biting of citizens by stray dogs, and many citizens dying due to bites. As stray dogs get food, their gangs have formed and their attacks have increased. Against this backdrop, the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court ruled that if food is to be given to stray dogs, animal lovers should take them home. Clear orders have been given to not feed them in public places. The bench has directed the police and city administration to file cases against animal lovers who feed stray dogs on roads and public places.

Against this order, on Sunday evening between 5 pm and 7 pm, various animal rights NGOs participated in a peaceful protest against the order of the Nagpur Bench at Shivaji Park on Sunday. More than a thousand online signatures have been collected from animal lovers on the issue of feeding dogs.
