Mumbai: BJP Corporator Stages Protest Against Obstruction Of Sewerage Channel Work

Malad East, 20th December 2022: BJP Corporator Vinod Mishra today staged a one-day symbolic hunger strike against the politicians and municipal officials who have repeatedly obstructed the work of laying a new sewerage channel from Kurar Village to Santoshi Mata Mandir by opposition political parties and the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).

The work of laying a new sewage channel from the State Bank of India to Santoshi Mata Mandir, in ward no. 43 in Dindoshi constituency, was started by the Municipal Corporation in 2019 with the efforts of Mishra. After the work started, it was stopped by various political parties. A discussion was held in Narmada Hall with the municipal corporation, political parties and police officials to resume work. After that, the work started. The work was again stopped due to the monsoon.

As the monsoon ended, the contractor asked for the rest of the work and all the permissions were obtained. Then on 16th December 2022 at 11 PM, the work of laying the sewerage channel started. After starting the work again, the Municipal Corporation officials were asked by different political parties to stop the work. The work of public interest was stopped on 20th December 2022 at 10.30 am.

The protest was held near Shantaram talav against the opposition parties and municipal officials who stopped work.
