Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation To Appoint Vaccinators On Performance Basis For Measles Vaccination

Mumbai, 20th December 2022: Vaccinators will be appointed on a contract basis for routine vaccination and a special vaccination campaign to be implemented on behalf of the Health Department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to curb measles. Retired Public Health Nurses/Assistant Health Obstetricians will also be eligible to participate.

 

According to the guidelines of the Maharashtra State Government, the regular vaccination program is implemented free of cost in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) through health centres, clinics, maternity homes, general hospitals and medical colleges. Under a routine immunization program, zero to five years age group, 10 years, 16 years, and pregnant women are vaccinated.

 

Currently, since October 2022, a large number of measles cases are being reported. Given this matter, to speed up routine vaccination as well as regional vaccination and to vaccinate those who are deprived of vaccination against measles, as well as to carry out special vaccination campaigns in health centres in areas where measles patients are more, vaccinators will be appointed on contract performance basis at health centre level in all 24 divisions. For this, on 21st December 2022, a newspaper advertisement and also advertisement is being published on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation website.

 

Selection criteria-

• Educational Qualification – Candidates have a Diploma in Midwifery / General Nursing plus an Assistant Nurse Obstetrics course prescribed by the State Nursing Council from a recognized Nursing School.

 

• Candidates should be registered with Maharashtra Nursing Council.

 

• Age – 18 years to 60 years

 

• Remuneration – Rs 450 per vaccination session (minimum four hours)

 

Eligible candidates will be appointed immediately at the Health Center level. At present, as more measles patients are found, all nurses are urged to participate in this campaign as vaccinators to speed up vaccination. The Public Health Department of the Municipal Corporation has clarified that retired Public Health Nurses / Assistant Health Obstetricians can also participate in this campaign as vaccinators.
