Mumbai: Bribe Accepted For New Water Connection, Notice To Six Workers In Water Department

Mumbai, 16th January 2023: Show-cause notices have been issued to six employees of the water supply department for accepting bribes for the construction of new water connections. An audio clip of a water connection holder in Kurla taking money was doing the rounds on social media. Taking serious note of this matter, a show cause notice has been issued to the fitter and five workers.

A work order was given for a new water connection in Govind Nagar Chali on Himalaya Society Road in the Asalfa Ghatkopar area. After the completion of the water connection, the fitter takes the feedback on the completion of the work from the close relatives of the water connection holder and collects money from them. The audio tape of this incident was uploaded on social media.

The audio film reached the municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal. He sent this tape to the concerned authorities. Therefore, the seriousness of this matter has increased. Therefore, the Assistant Engineers in the Water Works Department of Kurla L Division have issued notices to six workers. Taking bribes for water connections is against municipal rules. In this notice, it is said that the reason why suspension action should not be taken against him should be disclosed within three days. The notice has warned that disciplinary action and preliminary inquiry will be taken if the disclosure is not satisfactory.
