Mumbai: Central Railway’s Maintenance Initiative: Mega Block Scheduled for April 7

Mumbai, 6th April 2024: The Central Railway (CR) in Mumbai has announced a significant maintenance initiative scheduled for Sunday, April 7, aimed at enhancing engineering infrastructure and ensuring safety standards. This comprehensive effort will encompass both the main line and the trans-harbour network, as detailed in the CR statement.

On the main line, a mega block is planned from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm on slow lines in both directions between Matunga and Mulund. During this period, certain services will be rerouted to maintain continuity, with slight delays expected.

Specifically, Down Slow line services departing from CSMT between 10:14 am and 3:18 pm will be diverted onto the Down Fast line between Matunga and Mulund, then re-diverted onto the Down Slow line at Mulund station. Similarly, UP Slow line services from Thane between 10:58 am and 3:59 pm will follow a similar diversion route.

The CR emphasized that all UP and Down locals departing or arriving at CSMT Mumbai between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm may experience a delay of approximately 15 minutes.

For the Trans-harbour network, a mega block is scheduled on both the UP and Down lines between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm. During this time, services between Vashi/Nerul and Thane will be suspended, with specific cancellations outlined for down-line services departing from Thane and UP-line services departing from Vashi/Nerul/Panvel.

The CR underscored the necessity of these maintenance mega blocks for infrastructure upkeep and passenger safety. While inconvenience may arise, passengers are requested to cooperate with the Railway Administration during this essential maintenance period, as highlighted in the press statement released by CR.
