Mumbai: Covid positive rate reaches single digit for the first time in 45 days
Mumbai, 30th April 2021: The number of Covid cases in Mumbai amid the increasing pace of Corona infection across the country. After 45 days in the city, the positivity rate has come down to single digit.
According to BMC officials, the corona positivity rate in the city reached 9.94 percent on Friday. According to the data released by BMC on Friday, 43,525 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, out of which 4,328 positive cases have come out. However, there may be a slight change in this figure of BMC by Friday. At present, these figures are early. In such a situation it can also change.
Earlier on 13 March 2021, Corona’s daily positivity rate in Mumbai was 9.48 percent. In this way, after about one and a half months, once again the positivity rate has come down to single digit.
However, there was a sharp increase after 13 March and the figure reached 15 per cent on 20 March. Apart from this, in April, the figure was increasing rapidly. In April, this data was close to 11 to 27 percent. The highest positivity rate in the city was found on 4 April. The city then had a positivity rate of 27.94 percent. So far, there have been 53,80,473 Tests in Mumbai.
Although the second wave of Corona has seen a lot of havoc in Mumbai, the pace of getting new cases has come down over the last few days. On April 4, 11,206 new cases of corona were found in Mumbai. Not only this, about 7 to 8 thousand cases were being received in the city every day till 15 April. On April 15, 8,209 new corona cases were found in the city. On April 24, this figure was reduced to 5,867 cases. However, on 26 April this figure was reduced to 3,840.
BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said, “Even with 44,000 tests, our positivity rate is in single digit. Of these, 85 percent of the cases are without symptoms. In this way, it is important to have a positive rate in the single digit even after the most testing.”
According to Health Ministry data, there are currently 6, 44,583 active cases of corona in Mumbai, while more than 13 thousand people have died.
