Mumbai: Cyber Fraud Hits Bollywood Star, Rs 1.5 Lakh Embezzled From Bank Account

Bandra, 12th October 2023: The Bollywood actor Aftab Shivdasani recently fell victim to a cyber fraud in which two accused allegedly syphoned off approximately Rs 1.5 lakh from his bank account. Shivdasani lodged a complaint in this regard at Bandra Police Station, and police are now investigating the incident with the help of the cyber cell department.

Bollywood actor Aftab Prem Shivdasani lives in Bandra. He was at his home on Sunday evening. That time, he received a message from an unknown mobile number asking him to update his PAN card. In the message, it was stated that being unable to update his PAN card would result in cancelling his bank account. Therefore, he promptly opened the link in the message, which led him to his bank account page.

At that time, he was called by another person, feigning that he was speaking from his bank, and he asked Shivdasani to update his PAN card. Believing them, Shivdasani uploaded his card with personal details to that link.

Soon after filling out this information, Shivdasani received a message that around Rs 1.5 lakh had been debited from his bank account. As soon as he noticed this fraud, he promptly informed the bank manager about the fraud. However, the bank manager asked him to file a police complaint and also correspond with the bank by mail.

Subsequently, Shivdasani registered a complaint against two unknown fraudsters at the Bandra Police Station. Following this complaint, the police have registered a case under the IT section, including fraud, and started an investigation. It is said that the seniors have taken serious note of this incident and have ordered the Cyber Cell Police to investigate thoroughly in this manner.
