Mumbai: Deputy CM Fadnavis Forms SIT To Look Into Phony Enrolments In Medical Colleges

Mumbai, 22nd March 2023: Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, announced on Tuesday the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to look into a scheme that allowed applicants with phoney transcripts to enrol at a private medical school in the Satara district.

In addition, Fadnavis declared before the state assembly that a deputy superintendent of police (DySP) and an investigative officer will be moved to a non-administrative position for failing to conduct a thorough inquiry into the issue.

He stated that both police officers’ roles in the incident will also be looked into. Until then, they will be on unpaid leave.

He told the state parliament that despite Nilesh Mane, an eyewitness, coming forward, the police did not conduct a thorough investigation.

To enrol ineligible students into the medical college under the management quota, the Rural Institute of Research Centre Hospital in Satara, according to allegations made by BJP MP Jaykumar Gore, allegedly provided false mark sheets, migration certificates, and other documents; this has been happening for a long time.
